Boken RX

Remember these basic points:

  • Make sure you do not have any sticking float-valves.
  • Do NOT leave the fuel tap set to prime.
  • If you smell petrol as you go to your bike, DO NOT start it.

Bollocks!

What happens when you forget these points is that you can fill one of more cylinders with petrol. If any of these cylinders have pistons that are sitting at the bottom of the stroke waiting to come up on the compression stroke, when the piston comes up the bore it won't get all of the way - FLUIDS DO NOT COMPRESS

Somethings gotta give

In my case this happened to be the con-rod in No1 cylinder: Result, one banana shaped connecting rod.

This now entails an entire engine strip to replace the rod - assuming of course that I can locate a new one with the correct weight and big-end size!

Moral: CHECK YOUR FUEL TAP AND FLOAT NEEDLE VALVES.
